Starting a candle business is just like starting any other business. Before you start you will need a business model and plan. When I decided to start making candles, I didn’t have a complete plan in mind. I’m currently in preparation of it being started and launched. I figured why not just drop some gems for you if you decide you want to start a candle business.
How To Get Started:
- Create a business model and plan.
- Come up with a name. (I named my business “A Daughter’s Heart” because I had a vision for both this blog and also candle making combined.)
- Apply for your EIN
- Register your business with your state if it is a corporation, partnership or LLC, and also local governing body.
- Apply for your sales tax id.
- Apply for a bank account and also obtain a virtual mailbox (Choose a mailbox with a street # oppose to a regular PO box)
- Insure your business properly.
- Set up a website and a way to collect payment.
- Decide on the products you will sell (I will be selling handmade candles and soaps.) You have the option to also buy wholesale products which can save you time.
- Test your products and give away samples.
